Frequently asked questions

How much does PPA cover or specialist teaching from LSC cost?

To receive a tailored quote for PPA cover, specialist teaching or other school services, contact our School Partnerships Team at schools@wearelsc.co.uk.

We’ll discuss your school’s requirements, including the subjects you need, your timetable and the level of provision required, before recommending a suitable solution. We aim to provide a tailored quote, usually on the same day.

Do LSC practitioners have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)?

LSC provides two types of practitioners for primary schools: qualified teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and subject specialists with relevant qualifications and extensive teaching experience in primary education.

We’ll work with your school to understand your requirements, curriculum and pupils’ needs, then match you with the most suitable practitioner for your provision.

How does LSC ensure its practitioners are the right fit for our school?

LSC works with schools throughout the joint recruitment process to help identify practitioners who are a good fit for their pupils, staff and school environment.

We offer free demo lessons, giving school leaders the opportunity to observe potential practitioners in practice before making a decision. This helps you assess their teaching approach, subject knowledge and suitability for your school.

Does LSC provide its own curriculum and lesson plans?

Yes. LSC can either work with your school’s existing curriculum and planning or provide its own schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment frameworks across our specialist subject areas.

This flexibility allows us to adapt our provision to your school’s priorities, existing resources and approach to teaching, while helping to reduce the planning workload for school staff.

See some of our curriculum resources here.

How do you measure the impact of teaching provision?

LSC uses subject-specific assessment frameworks to monitor pupil progress and engagement throughout the academic year.

Schools receive regular feedback and reporting to help them understand the impact of our provision, identify areas for development and inform future curriculum planning and school improvement priorities.

How can schools reduce the cost of PPA cover and specialist teaching?

LSC helps schools explore more cost-effective ways to access specialist teaching, PPA cover.

Our savings-based partnership model can enable schools to generate rental income through wraparound childcare and holiday club provision, helping to offset the cost of PPA and CPD cover. It can also create additional opportunities for pupils and provide valuable childcare options for families.

We’ll work with your school to explore how this approach could fit your facilities, requirements and budget.

What is PPA Cover?

PPA (Planning, Preparation, and Assessment) cover is an arrangement where a specialist teacher steps into a primary school classroom so the regular teacher takes their legally entitles PPA time.
